Before becoming a Certified Postpartum Doula, I spent nearly 20 years as a newborn care specialist, providing exceptional childcare and nanny services to families across the DMV area.
With a stellar reputation and a passion for nurturing, I've formed lasting bonds with families, some of which I've supported since their infants' earliest days. In addition to my extensive experience in newborn care, I have also worked closely with children who have diverse needs, gaining a deep understanding of their unique requirements. I am skilled in enteral feeding, ensuring children receive the necessary care and nutrition.
Originally from North Carolina, I've made my home in Burke, Virginia, for more than 20 years. Here, I share my life with my husband, two sons - one in high school and the other in college - and our beautiful and sometimes naughty Golden Retriever.
I have a weakness for cheesecake, audiobooks, and my own baked ziti!
You're going through a life transition, to say the least. Your body has changed, your responsibilities are new, and you're eager to get to know your little one.
On top of that you're figuring out breastfeeding, navigating hormonal shifts, and carrying a lot more than you did just a few days ago. If there has ever been a time you need help managing everything, this might be it.
One of the most difficult parts of entering motherhood is that it’s hard to plan for - you don’t know what type of help will be best. With a postpartum doula you will have help at the ready - no matter what that looks like.
Postpartum doulas can take care of basic household tasks like laundry, dishes and grocery runs, giving you a chance to bond with your baby. Or, they can take a night shift with the baby so you can catch up on sleep. A postpartum doula can also lend a listening ear to help you process a birth story or ensure your mental state is stable. Whatever help you may need, we are here.
Being certified as a postpartum doula means a lot to me on personal and professional levels.
It's all about providing the essential support that I wish I had received when I was a new mom.
After each of my children were born, I went through a tough time with the baby blues.
The combination of sleep deprivation, not-so-great eating, breastfeeding hurdles, and a serious lack of support left me and my husband overwhelmed during our first few weeks of parenthood.
That's why I'm so passionate about offering care and necessary support to new parents.
If you're ready for the care you deserve, book a free discovery call today! During your consultation we'll chat about how you can benefit from a personalized postpartum doula experience.
